A great addition the saga, a short retelling of the events from Eclipse through the eyes of bree tanner, the vampire teen who the cullens try to save

It’s well written, but it was hard to get attached to any of the characters. Also somewhat disconcerting to read about Diego, clearly intended to be Hispanic, knowing that Meyer insists that vampires have to be white, and fought against the casting of POC for the movies.

I didn’t really enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. I loved the character of Bree. I thought there was more to her story and was really interesting to learn about it. Unfortunately I wasn’t as invested in the plot as I wanted to be. I didn’t really feel a connection to the characters that were added. (Fred, Diego, Raoul) I also don’t think that everything was connected quite as nicely to the other twilight books. I don’t know if this is just me not remembering reading Eclipse but some of the stuff that happened in this book just wasn’t connected to Eclipse as much as it should have been. I also think it would have been better if we got a little more background on Brees character because one minute she’s there and the next she’s not. I didn’t feel like I was getting her whole story which is what I really wanted. I don’t know if that was how it was supposed to feel. If it was supposed to feel really short because there is one of those time things on the front of the book so I don’t know if that was supposed to elude to the fact that this story was short. It’s 178 pages but there was no backstory on Bree so I didn’t feel as connected to the story as much as I wanted to.

Overall, this book gets 2/5 stars for me.
