Kidnapped woman kept in a shed in the backyard of kidnapper. She has a son who has never been outside.

They breakout by pretending the boy is dead. He has trouble adjusting to the outside.

A great but heartbreaking book. Written from the boy’s perspective it really adds another level of depth to it. The naïveté of the young kid versus the horrendousness of their situation is a great juxtaposition! This book is so sad that you wanna take breaks every now and then but also so great and compelling that you can’t put it down!

I really loved the movie and didn't know it was a book, the book was really nice and it was interesting to read things from a child's perspective.

After watching the movie, I was super excited to read the book. It definitely delivered. I didn't think the story could get any more intense or emotional but it certainly was. Hearing it play out from Jack's mind was an emotional rollercoaster and it was also so beautiful and innocent.
