If you’re not into stories where hope just gets further and further away the whole time, don’t read this. Nectar of the Wicked was really difficult for me after the first half—during which I couldn’t put it down. It’s written well, stylistically, if a little slow paced. There’s not much of a plot in the sense that very little external things are happening. And for some reason the author has frustrating stylistic quirks, like using “cease” when she means “stop” (which I don’t think are always interchangeable), “upon” when it’s actually not the correct preposition (usually in place of “on” or “to”), and a really strange quirk of the use of “whom” when it’s actually not necessary (e.g., using “for whom” or ”for which” when neither whom nor which refer to the object of the sentence, so it’s just there for no reason).
Graphic: Bullying, Child abuse, Confinement, Domestic abuse, Drug use, Emotional abuse, Misogyny, Physical abuse, Sexism, Sexual assault, Sexual content, Sexual violence, Toxic relationship, Violence, Blood, Kidnapping, Gaslighting, Toxic friendship, Abandonment, Sexual harassment, and Injury/Injury detail
