 Just not enjoying this one.

The humor doesn't work for me. I also feel like I'm missing something because I'm not well versed in 1970s Finnish culture or politics, and I'm not interested enough in the story to do the research.

I was expecting more of a fun romp through the wilderness with a man and a hare, but that's not what I got from this. I wanted more about the hare and the wilderness, and way less of what is actually in here.

DNF
Trigger warning animal cruelty

I had to stop after the absolutely disgusting scene with the Raven in which he causes its death by utterly cruel means simply because it has a penchant for stealing his food. I am sickened that this book was recommended.
It is not at all what I was expecting and the protagonist does not seem to have any real or convincing emotions, not even to the hare he rescued earlier in the book. I am utterly befuddled how anyone can find this book humourous.
