It was very good, the relationship and such. Veru fun read and first book in just a sitting. But it did feel at some places as a wattpad romance. I also wish this had ended with a bit more of their relationship after the confession.

Okay, I am much more disappointed with this book than I thought I’d be.
I love character driven novels but i didn’t appreciate the underlying motives.
It was so stupid of Olive to fake date Adam to make her friend—who should know that Olive is demisexual and over Adam—happy and feel comfortable dating her ex. Her friends should know her and respect that aspect of Olive.Yes Ahn did tell Olive later that Olive didn’t need to do that but she should’ve gave her that safe space and acknowledgment earlier.
Also didn’t appreciate the brief moments where the author covered Olive’s sexuality. It was underwhelming.
And the author didn’t give enough time for thesexual harassment situation to be handled. It felt halfhearted and disheartening to only get the amount that was explored of the situation. Also, am not enjoying the fact that Adam had come to the rescue in that situation (and many others).
Olive had issues with her self esteem, and that’s fine, but their was little to no growth. I wanted more for her. I could relate in moments where Olive was insecure and untrusting, but I wanted her to learn to trust herself more. It seemed like she grew to trust Adam completely instead of herself. I hate that. Adam was great, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t like the way the author handled this.
There were many things that were super ridiculous to me but some that I need to mention right here.what scientists are so willing and careless with unsafe sex? And wtf was that when Adam grabbed Olives hand and put it on his penis when she was telling him that she wanted to have sex with him and he was denying it? That was so horrific to me. She seemed hesitant and thrown off before this because he kinda didn’t want to have sex with her because he thought that it was a bad idea. I doubt many people would react well to this like she did. What the fuck?
It was funny in parts. I really liked Adam for a good amount of it. I liked his intentions and that he was grumpy but not with Olive. I loved Holden. He was my favorite.
I also did not feel the smut scenes. I get why they were like that becauseshe was a “virgin” and demisexual so it was overwhelming but I think that some of it was too much and some moments that seemed to me would be not consensual because she was one moment overwhelmed and then feeling like she couldn’t say no. Yeah it’s normal to have mixed feelings but I felt unsettled because I feel like this was pushing her in the wrong way and direction. She needed to be pushed in emotional ways first but I guess that didn’t matter as much as her needing to be pushed in that intimate way.

I loved this book! The characters were lovable, except Tom for obvious reasons. I like how Hazelwood is able to create characters that everyone loves, but also characters that they hate. My favourite characters are Malcolm and Holden. They are hilarious and super supportive of Olive and Adam. My least favourite character was Tom, and I am glad he got called out for how he treated Olive. I loved Dr Aslan saying "Carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre white man.” Hilarious! A brilliant read.

No review written. Still enjoyed the second time around but, probably not a 5 star Book.
Things to mention: 1) Olive (FMC) is possibly demisexual or ace, she doesn't feel sexual attraction or much interest/attraction in anyone until she gets to know and trust them. 2) Adam constantly asks for consent, love to see it. 3) There is discussion of abusive and people in positions of power taking advantage of those under them. 4) Discussion of virginity and how it's been defined. 5) Not a big fan of Olive feeling pressured to do so much and please her friend Anh.
September 2022: I have decided to lower my rating from 5 stars to 3.75 stars for THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS despite my previous love for this book. After my reread in January, reading Ali Hazelwood's works published afterward, and having some conversations with friends, giving this book 5 stars does not fit well with me. For starters, it feels like Ali Hazelwood keeps writing the same story with a few changes. Writing according to someone's comfort, a formula, or what sells well is fine but I would like to read a book from Ali that feels completely different than her "small tiny young sunshine scientist falls for the tall big grumpy scientist that does but doesn't want her and he's the only one that can save her from SA and there is hinted at sexuality and chronic illnesses/disorders that aren't explicitly stated and his D is so big and she's so small and the sex is weird because he eats her boob or compares her to geographical elements or nicknames their bodies or-." This could also just be me slowly realizing that maybe Ali Hazelwood's writing is not for me. Also, when comparing this book to other books that I consider 5 stars and favorites, this does not fit in well.

I LOVED IT , tbh i kinda expected a fanfiction type of writing and it it kinda is but in a good way? , it's well written for a fanfiction based boo( , the smut is not why i came here and DEFINITELY NOT why i stayed /: but it's sich a cute book it's funny it's emotional and it's not incredibly cringy which is surprising (except for the smut the smut is bad like really bad)
