I was driving across the desolate desert of Nevada, close to Area 51. I had not seen another car for hours. So I pulled out this book and read while driving. As I passed Area 51. Alone. In the desolation.

* I did not have an accident while doing this, and I dont recommend it. Unless you are the only human (aliens not included) for at least 200 miles.

This book felt all over the place. The timeline wasn’t clear and there was not a smooth flow to the story. I found the plot boring hence why I stopped reading.

The writing was a little too matter of fact for me but you can’t fault it in the fact that it’s an unflinching portrayal of living as a drug addict.

I kept constantly asking myself "Is this a novel?". As an account of the "junk world" it's certainly interesting, as a work of fiction I founded it kind of dissapointing. The style is dry, clear, which is not bad by itself -it's actually a writing style I find very attractive- but the lack of emotion throughout the entire story leaves me unsatisfied. Events unfolds but don't leave a trace -a deep one, I mean- into the character.

Probably, if you read it twice, three times and look at it from different angles, like Oliver Harris says in the introduction, you get more than an "informative account" (but this is pretty much the only thing I got after this read).
