Review originally published at Romancing Romances.
I received an eARC at no cost from the author, and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review. Thank you.
Although not a fan of novellas, it’s always a pleasure to read the one written by Caroline Linden.
The hero, Lord George, is an artist, and the way the author describes his works, and his portraits of Lady Samantha, is so good you can visualize them perfectly when reading.
I liked the chemistry and spark you could feel between the main characters. And how easy it was to hate/really dislike Samantha’s father, and therefore support Samantha and George in their love. A forced proximity kind of trope, I would say.
A short review for a delightful, yet short book.

Benedict's sister Samantha has just been told she's to marry a man no woman in the Ton wants anything to do with, so at the last minute she decides to run to Benedict in London but before she gets to him she's kidnapped, rescued and cared for by a stranger.
This was fun but because it connects to 3 or 4 different stories in two different series you are either spoiled for her story or a bunch of other peoples. Thankfully it's still a fun sweet story in spite of that.

I voluntairly read and reviewed a copy of this book provided by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A Study In Scandal, by Caroline Linden, is part of the Scandalous book series. As a novella it's book 3.5, I've also now found it listed as book 6. Having never read any of the Scandalous series I went into this prepared for a standalone story. As it turns out, it works both ways. Originally published in 2016, I found it to be just as fresh as a tale from 2019. I caught a whiff of Snow White woven into this story. I've always liked Snow, for the most part she saved herself. I didn't find a love-to-hate character so it left me 100% on our couples side. They're so cute together!
Our heroine is Lady Samantha Lennox, downtrodden daughter of an Earl. I percieved the Earl to be a monster, wouldn't have cried if he fell off his horse. As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions and that's how Samantha landed in this pickle. Everyone in the family does what they're told but it becomes too much, marry a monster? No. Our girl get up the gumption to run away, wants to find her brother, and finds adventure and love instead.
Lord George Churchill-Gray is not only the son of a Duke but he's an accomplished painter. Pretty content with his life, on the way to making it in the art world. When he rescues a damsil in destress he's facinated, she becomes his muse, and he's gone to love land quickly. He's a good guy, easy-going, has a terrific sense of honor, and isn't afraid of his feelings. I liked him right away.
A Happily Ever After was written in the stars for these two lovebirds. Everything works out and Samantha a Grey are very grateful. If this was a game of poker, Duke beats Earl everytime. Happy reading.

This was mostly just fine. I liked the couple and wished we'd had more time for their relationship to really take off, but it was a novella so things get rushed.

In one word? Nah.
I'm probably being unfair, since I only gave this book one chapter before I decided it wasn't capturing my attention, but I did give far too much of my patience to my previous read.
Good luck to everyone else, this one isn't for me.

This a great addition to the scandalous series. Samantha is a kind and independent and she makes such a good match with George. He is sweet to her and just wants to keep her safe. A great little adventure and a few moments that have you hoping that there will that happy ever after.

Samantha runs away from home and falls into the arms of a lord painter who is kind and chivalrous in the right measure. Enjoyed the love blossoming between them and bit of heroics.

A lovely little romance!
This was a sweet story. Samantha and Gray are fun characters and so cute. Their romance is sweet with a bit of spice. I very much enjoyed this book.
There are a few sexy times in this book, but nothin explained too explicitly.
