A good sequel that healthily avoids Second Book Syndrome.

If anything, this bad boy ramped it up to 11 with badass superpowers and higher than high stakes.

Watching Evie evolve into a badass super ninja is my favourite thing that I never saw coming.

Burning is an understatement. This book is full of ashes. Overall, another amazing ride from JLA.

It is nice to see Luc and Evie growing together and getting some answers on what Evie is. Also, I must say Grayson intrigues me. I really want to know more about him and follow him into that snarky head of his. Hoping we see more of him.

I hate to have to admit this but, I was somewhat disappointed in this installment. It hurts my soul a little to say that since I am such a Jennifer L. Armentrout fan. However, The Burning Shadow I felt like it built very slowly. Usually JLA is the type to hit the ground running, however I don’t think it really happened until about 50-60% of the way through the book. Also, I know cliffhangers are nothing new but this one just felt flat to me. Almost like if a movie cut off in the middle of a scene... it just didn’t feel “ended”.

It still is a super enjoyable story. Plus, I still love Luc and Evie’s story and will be anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

I love Jennifer L. Armentrout writing, she never fails to deliver a great story. Luc & Evie did not see any of this coming, and for Luc not to know everything! Wow. I’m happy that she put the characters who started this story in here also. Luc was betrayed and lied to about Nadia, revenge is coming. I can’t wait to read the next book and see want happens.

JLynn absolutely never fails to deliver! She can give you ALL the feels.

I just finished reading this last night. Like the whole night. I WANT THE NEXT BOOK. NOW

The amazing thing about this author and this book is that you feel one with the character. You feel things in the book as though you are living them. I felt everything Evie felt, most part her frustration, confusion, terror, love ,etc.

This story was honestly super gripping. I usually don't like second books in most series because they turn out a little boring compared to the first. But not this one. Ya I wasn't as big a fan of it as TDS but it was ... WOW.

I loved that we got to so much Luc! And the scenes were definitely more steamy than anything we've read so far in the Lux world.

I'm still reeling from the book, just feeling too much. There are a few spoilers below because i cant stop the rant:
.
*Spoilers ahead*

I am so scared for Evie and what's going to happen to her. I don't think she can ever be normal/human now. What happened to her as we learned in the end...whoa it makes me cry. (Sort of more for Luc.. because damn poor guy blames himself)
Also, there were too many deaths for one book. Please JLynn don't kill so many characters, it's crushing me.
And as usual my heart broke for Luc and how much he had to go through, how powerless and out of control he felt.
But I'm super wary of the way it was mentioned in the book that 'they were made for each other'. That's super creepy, like were they genetically altered to love each other or what?! Obviously that won't be the case...this is JLynn we're talking about. She can write romance which makes you swoon. So fingers crossed and here's to waiting AGAIN for another year for the next book to release.
