RELEASE DATE UPDATE!!! NOW JAN 28TH! 2 days before my birthday!! I've never looked so forward to turning 39... again!

7/15/13

OMFG!

I don't know whether to high five Ms. Joanna Wylde or go camp out on her front lawn holding a "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME 2014!!!" protest.

See, when there is a book I really, really want to read... no scratch that... a book that I'm DYING to read... "dying" as in on my calendar there is Easter, the 4th of July, Christmas and the RELEASE DATES of the books that I will be scheduling my every day life around... well, I do this thing. I'm sure lots of us are familiar with it... good old fashioned Denial.

I go out of my way to avoid any and all news about said upcoming book. I ignore author updates on FB and GRs, I skim over my GR updates and pass over any book blog and forum posts that mention said book. Oh I know it's still there... over there in the corner... whisperin' to me to bring my suppressed inner fangirl on over and get dunked in a big ol' batch of angsty want. But I persevere!

Because denial helps me stay receptive to all the books that AREN'T the books written on my calendar and keeps my ass out of that reading rut that I fall into when I'm jonesing hard for that one book I just can't have yet.

So that's why I'm late to the party. Tonight I was all Holy HAWT Cover Ruger is almost here!! I clicked on over to the Reaper's Legacy page and proceeded to burn the paint off of my walls with my foul mouth. 2014!! (eta: I thought it was coming out August 4th, hence my melt down)

Joanna, if you read this... HUGE CONGRATS on your latest publishing deal. I first encountered your writing when I discovered ebooks, Ellora's Cave and *cough* Alien Erotica *cough*. You've been working your craft for a long damn time and on top of that, you are one of us. A Reader. I think you love reading, talking about books and the hunt for the next OMG! book as much as you do writing and that makes you FuckAwesome.

But dang! 2014?? 2014!!! That's like... MONTHS from now. MONTHS! My suppressed inner fan girl is throwing the biggest drama mama fit right now. I explained to her that the publisher controls the release dates but she... well, she might have used her unflattering name calling skills referring to my "balanced, logical acceptance of change and that she might very well get hit by a bus before she gets her some Ruger". I'll kick her some season one Sons of Anarchy, that first time we see Jax and his full tat in the shower... that'll shut her up. Just don't tell her about Opie. But yet again, I digress.

While I'm disappointed, I'm sure both myself and my suppressed inner fangirl will survive until eagerly anticipate Reaper's Legacy release. Next year. In 2014.

Good

I liked this book. Liked both of the characters a lot. Happy there was a epilogue.

However when the chapters was his he spoke in third person when it her chapters she spoke in first person. That threw me off for the first half of the book.

I love Reapers Motorcycle Club and #2 didn't disappoint.

Sophie loses her virginity to her high school sweetheart Zach on the couch. It was quick and awkward and they ended up getting caught by Zach's step-brother, Ruger.

Sophie ends up pregnant with Zach's baby. Zach is non existent. Ruger steps in to help take care of her and her son when he finds Sophie barely making it and living in a shitty apartment.

Sophie has always wanted Ruger. There is just something about him. The fact that Ruger kept something that belonged to Sophie all those years ago shows his true feelings.

I love the bickering between Sophie and Ruger, she isn't the naive little girl he first met. She stands up for herself and her son.

I know this book isn't about Horse but I absolutely love him in it. His sense of humor is great. He had me laughing out loud at some of his one liners.

The reason for my four star and not five isn't because I didn't love the story I did, I loved Ruger and Sophie but it felt like I needed more. More build up between them? or More of his past (being a man-whore) something but it would never stop me from reading or recommending this book. Can't wait for #3!!

I don't know exactly how to rate this book. It was good as in dynamic characters, an engaging plot, and good writing... I just don't think Motorcycle Club is a genre I'm ever going to really get into. To be fair I knew that before I read this book.

I felt like Sophie was a really believable character, and while I didn't love all her choices, I really believed her as a character, and I really felt for her. I didn't love all the body betrayal stuff on her part, but all in all I respected her and was really rooting for her.

Ruger was definitely more challenging to like, but he was also a believable character. I mean, presumably, this is the culture of Motorcycle Clubs so he felt about as likeable as you could get for a MC in that setting. I also appreciated that he softened some, or at least became more flexible and less domineering/bossy "my way is the only way" over the course of the story. And he did eventually come around.

Overall, I won't be reading anymore from the series. Watching SoA was enough to satisfy my MC genre needs for a while longer.

I cannot get enough!! Anxiously waiting for the 3rd book to come out. The tension between Ruger and Sophia. I wanted then to just sleep together and get it over - but I knew once they did it would blow up. Though the sex was explosive :) as domineering and annoying as Ruger is, he is just hilarious too. I wanted to hit him mans laugh at him. I cannot wait to read about everyone else's story. Keep them coming!

What's not to love about a bad-a$$ biker who falls in love with his nephew the moment he's born? Who treats him like his own son? That's Ruger for you. Yes, he's a man-whore, but he's capable of great love. He just doesn't realize it.

Sophie was annoying with her anti-MC opinions. But she just wanted to raise her son right.

We see a lot of Horse in this book, and he's pretty funny. In fact, there's a good dose of humor in the book. And I loved the Epilogue.

Another enjoyable Reaper's MC book. I'm off to read DEVIL'S GAME.
