So we follow Alice, who is stuck at a psychiatric ward. She is the only POV we follow so she is supposed to be an unreliable narrator - and she starts to give you her story in fragments which doesn't help.
She is in recovery but her state is not as positive as she wants to believe. She is selfish and comes off as argumentative and a bit conceited. Understandably she does not like the place she can't leave and looks down on those around her be it patients or the staff.

It's a fast read, Alice is trying to solve a murder that takes place in the ward. She is easily frustrated but all the time she's 100% sure she is a better detective than those on active duty and that she'll be the one to crack the case.

I did not guess who the murderer was, but the big reveal about Alice was the one thing I was not expecting. But if you read the book description is kind of dead to give away so that was a bit annoying. I was very happy that I don't generally read the description paying much attention. I had a better time during my read because I didn't know that one detail.
