This was so cute. I like my books like these to be short but interesting and with some drama and angst and this was perfect. I really liked the other books in this series but they were quite long. This was perfect!

I won't rate it as is the first book in a series and I won't read the rest of the books. But it really left a bitter taste in my mouth, I read this author's kraken series and I enjoyed it overall, so I decided to start this series but this is not for me.
One thing I absolutely hate is not having a proper balance in a relationship, an equal give and take... When one part gives more it just doesn't feel right.
And another thing I can't stand is too much angst, and this book had both right from the beginning.
When both main leads make their promise and only one keeps it I stopped reading, you can say that she was young, she had all her life wasted, sorry but so did he... She was 14, he was 16... He kept his word, she didn't...
I know some might say I'm too strict in my views but that's the way I am... And this book made me really mad...
I would've prefered if they didn't make any promise, if they just had to part and meet years later and realized their feelings, but the broken promise ruined the story for me... I feel awful, so I will stop reading and look somewhere else...

What I didn’t like: No epilogue. Not much shown of their time apart in almost 20 years.

I adored this book. There aren’t many I don’t like written by this duo. I liked how smitten Volcair was from the moment he met Kiara. My only gripe is I wish it were a longer novel. It was a wholesome read and very short and sweet.

A Cutesy Quick but Heartwarming Read

This was such a good palate cleanser after reading a book that threatened to put me in a reading stump. It was the perfect amount sweet, steamy and satisfying. Both MCs were quite likeable from the onset but Kiara’s fierce personality as a kid stole my heart. I love outspoken and adorable kids that unintentionally provide comic relief in stories. She was most endearing. Volcair was simply darling. The strong silent type, letting his chatterbox mate take the lead and leading him down the path to HEA in the process.

I hated how long it took them to find each other again. My heart ached for them and I was screaming at Isaiah AND Volcair that he would just not check himself. Ughhhh. Live and learn. The real star of the show is the inzu and he deserves all the rewards for his part.

The scene with Volcair and his father was emotional. I loved that he acknowledged his teenaged angst that again caused him to lose so much time with those that loved him. I loved that scene. Definitely brought tears to my eyes.

The story may have been short, but it did NOT lack the heat in its steamy scenes. Had me fanning my face and uncoiling the knots in my belly. Well done.

Not sure if these 2 show up in the other books in the series, but I’m willing to read to see if we get glimpses of them and what they are up to.

I enjoyed this . . .

And can't wait to start Silent Lucidity. I wonder if Kiara and Volcair appear in any of the other books in this series. I hope they do!

Y’all the TROPES!

• Second-chance romance
• Star-crossed lovers
• Friends to lovers
• Fated mates

This book had soooo much going for it, and I was absolute putty while listening to the audio! Kiara and Volcair’s relationship was simply amazing. I loved the sweetness and innocence of their childhood friendship and the angst-filled reunion they had as adults. Such an amazing romance - I’m kicking myself for waiting so long to read it!
