First read by Austin Kleon... intending to read the Steal like an artist trilogy...
A so quick reading! I enjoyed it...
I would give it 2 and half stars out of 5.

I didn't steal it: I borrowed it from the library.
Would I buy a copy? No.
Was it worth spending my lunch break on? Yes.
Is it full of profound insights that will change my creative life? No.
It's like a sports drink: gives a quick burst of energy when you are flagging, which is all well and good, but what is really needed is something substantial to get your teeth into.

Oh, Austin Kleon... There are about 25 tiny reasons I loved this, which is a lot being that the book is about the size of my palm. I think this book will be on the high school summer reading list this year which I think is awesome.

"School is one thing. Education is another. The two don't always overlap. Whether you're in school or not, it's always your job to get yourself an education.
You have to be curious about the world in which you live."

Mostly this book was a relief because it confirmed that I'm not a total screw-up when it comes to my creative life. It could use some more concrete exercises, in my opinion.

This will be my go-to gift book. Why? Because even if you somehow already know everything there is to know about everything, this is still one that you need to read. No, it's not one of those books that lets you in on the secret to life or tells you things that you really didn't always know, but it does make some important lessons, dare I say...fun.

The author is obviously a very creative person - which he will remind you of several times throughout this book. It'd be annoying if I didn't believe him so much based on this work alone. It's simple, it's easy to read, and it packs some impactful lessons. Since that's all I went into the book looking for, I can't complain.

I keep a stack of books that I think hold the most meaning to me on my desk - this one will be added to that, possibly even at the top.
