I wanted to love this book because it made me think of Practical Magic when I read the synopsis. But I just couldn’t like it. There was no description of anything, at all. The conversations and dialogue were forced and not well done. It felt like a draft that wasn’t fleshed out. I really wanted to love this book but with the writing style and the way it was written I just couldn’t make myself read it.

Really not my cup of tea, don’t enjoy books which describe the characters upfront and tone was too conversational for my liking

Fun page-turner of a novel about some elderly, hilarious, badass witches. Loved every second of it.

Nope. Just nope. If you like it good for you from me this is a nope

Oh dear where do I start with this one. I don’t think I have ever read a book that is so passive aggressively man hating. Don’t get me wrong consider myself a feminist but there was something about this book to me that read like outdated feminism from like 20+ years ago. Every male character was either just constantly angry and evil or there to be sexually manipulated. Honestly if you flipped the genders in this people would be outraged at how sexist it is but because the men are the ones being stereotyped and objectified it gets away with it.

The story was slow and forced, most of the characters felt very 2D to me and overall I really didn’t find it a compelling read.  It feels like someone tried to mix Gilmore girls with Practical Magic which produces a very nostalgic feeling so I can see how some people get very drawn into it but for me the nice atmosphere of the book didn’t distract from the problems it had. I didn’t rage read it, but I also found myself just not caring about what was happening very quickly and just rolling my eyes constantly. If you like it you go for it. From it’s a solid nope.
