It took a bit to get into, but the development of the story was wonderfully unique and intriguing. I thoroughly enjoyed this reimagining of the Peter Pan story. I really dug how it ended and the path towards that ending.

I thought having Peter run away to Neverland to escape being a girl, Wendy, was great. Poor Peter and Hook, running away from unfair lives. It was lovely having the two finding peace and love within each other and a real home.

This book took me on a journey. I never really knew what to expect for what would happen next, but the dive deeper and deeper into Peter and Hook's psyches was spectacular. Neverland is transformed into a place for wounded people, and maybe that's what it was all along, but it's exemplified perfectly in this story.

SpoilerI was truly surprised when Peter was revealed to be trans, but it felt so right in that single moment and fit the storyline (retelling or otherwise) perfectly. This was one of the best retellings of Peter Pan that I could ever imagine.

All you need is a little faith, luck, and pixie dust! The spirit of youth and joy reimagined. Super imaginative and genuinely sweet. Only thing that would have made this a five star read is if we had an extra 100 pages to build their love a little more, felt a little insta-love on Hook’s side because he had only known Pan as an adult for a few days. I desperately want a sequel to see what life has in store for James and Peter (and Ernest!) but it ended beautifully.

What if Peter Pan and Wendy were actually the same person, but Peter is his true self? It's an interesting and a little bit heartbreaking story about what would happen if Peter was his true self, trying to escape the crushing expectations of being told all the time to just be a girl. Ten years after the end of the story we know, Peter wishes his way back into Neverland to find that Captain Hook is still there, a little bit bored and ready to renew their rivalry. The Lost Boys, however, have been stagnant under the leadership of a new arrival named Ernest. Peter's understanding of himself and Neverland is put to the test as his interactions with Hook have a *different* undercurrent to them this time around.

I think I could not bear to read this (have had it for several years and made several starts) until I was more settled in myself and my transition. Absolutely lovely and intriguing and hopeful.

This was such a lovely retelling and the most beautiful way to make Peter Pan into a queer love story. Please read this.
