other than a few things i personally wish had been developed more* this was a super cute trans romcom. the characters were all awesome (well except one but that was the point).
*it was a long book so i can forgive easily. there’s not room for everything in one book.

I really wanted to like this book, because of how much the book has been hyped and how cool the author seems. But I just could not like this book. For one Noah, the main character was too self-absorbed and acted very entitled. He used his parent's credit card without a care in the world. I would never have done that as a teen. He still borrowed money from his brother without a care and then he still gets his mom to unfreeze his parent's card. This kid barely made an effort to get a job.

The relationship between Drew and Noah felt like instant love and they were to their relationship way too fast. I sorta felt the way about the relationship between Noah and Devin as well. Although their's was more gradual and made a bit more sense.

I almost felt like this book was an ad for Tumblr. This book mentions it so much because of the Meet Cute Diary blog. When reading the blurb for the book I thought that the blog would be a website not a blog on Tumblr. At the end of the book, it is mentioned that Noah and Becca finally open the blog up for submissions and it's like, why did not submissions before or ask people to submit their own love stories. That just seems obvious to me. Then that way people accusing Noah of telling lies or stealing others' stories might not have happened.

It kept feeling aww poor Noah but what your friends they need you too. But in the end, Noah seemed like the same person, besides realizing that the blog is not everything in the world.

REVIEW: “Meet Cute Diary” by Emery Lee

I have to start off by saying I haven’t been this frustrated (in a good way!) with a MC in a long time. But I love the frustration I have with Noah because it proves how authentic this story feels! And because I just care so much for Noah’s happiness and completely understand getting caught up in romance and finding one’s HEA. Emery has crafted a genuine romance that is epically meta, spritzed with just enough pop culture references (Haley Reinhart, Percy Jackson, and Boba? HELL YES), and incredibly personal. Devin is my favorite character; e is a beautiful exploration of what it means for Trans (as well as other LGBTQ+ peeps) to feel seen and heard, all while finding oneself and figuring out what identity and pronouns work best. I am so excited for Trans readers to get their hands on this book and not only have the representation they need in literature but also have something that gives them hope for their own happily ever afters.

the premise of this book is totally ridiculous but once you look past that it’s super good!! i really liked all the character (well besides drew obviously) and i really like the writing style, there’s only one thing that bothered me and it’s the “not even technically illegal” comment about drew and noah’s age gap, it was totally unnecessary and it’s literally the argument pedophiles use so,, at first i thought the comment was there because the book was going to talk about grooming but no it was just an off hand comment thrown there

I really liked how this book focused on character flaws and how people are still lovable even when there is room for growth. It was also great to see a book with trans & nonbinary representation! I think some people may find the main character frustrating but I think he was realistic and more of a lovable asshole
