Una historia bastante interesante que además expone varios problemas con los que todos lidiamos día a día, fácil de leer.

Glaring error! Victims killed with a revolver but shell casings found at scene! There is no way a murderer would leave casings at a scene of the crime when using a revolver. This would be a tipoff of a setup and even a bumbling investigation would catch this.

A re-read. This is only an hour-long or about 50 pages. The third book is coming out and it's been too long that I forgot what the series is about. This short story is simply a court scene with witnesses on both sides telling the story. Readers learn from their statements that two naked victims were shot dead in a bedroom. The woman is married to the defendant, Junior Mace, a Tappacola Indian. The man was his friend. But it's not what it appears to be. John Grisham is really good with this short story and will definitely make you want to read the next book.

So I didn't really know this was a prequel/teaser going into it. I know it says it on the cover but I did not see that. I think it did what it was supposed to do, which was to make you intrigued to read the novel. However, based on the reviews I don't think I'll be continuing. This premise sounded super interesting and I thought it was a novel. I got it on audio so I didn't realize how short it was until I read it. I think that it was good for what it is but that's all I really feel. The trial stuff was pretty accurate and I appreciated that.

This is a short read that is a prequel to The Whistler. I enjoyed this. It gave you a taste of what the series is all about. It also gave some insight to some of the key players in the series.

Why didn't Grisham just make this Part I of The Whistler? A "prequel" is nothing but a marketing ploy, and marketing tricks always annoy me. Is The Whistler not good enough to stand on its own? Does there have to be a teaser first to persuade folks to buy the book?

In spite of my annoyance, the teaser did interest me. I will borrow The Whistler from my local library so I can find out what happens.

This was more of a short story than a book. It's the story of a man accused of murder, and a mysterious man, incognito, who witnesses the trial, a judge who presides over his first murder trial while the attorney for the prosecution is blinded by a desire to win.

This is the prequel to Grisham's next book. Quite good on audio, and only an hour long.
