OMG... I hate cliffhangers

Just when the story starts getting really good, BOOM... cliffhanger! Dawn, the chubby American girl who did not fit in at the Tokyo Progressive school. A homogenous society that equated thinness with beauty. She had no friends. She just did not fit in and neither did her brother Byron who was bullied by the grandson of a crime boss. When she was asked to tutor another crime boss' son Victor, her whole life changed. She thought that no one as insanely handsome as he would be interested in her. But she was wrong. He loved her spirit and how she related to him like no one ever had. I should have known something was up when her father asked her to tell him anything that Victor communicated about. I don't understand how he could have let his daughter get in so deep and allowed her to get in harm's way. At the same time, I don't understand how someone could harm an innocent child.

I don't see Dawn being happy at all. She's not living the life she planned. She's living her Tiger Mom's life she never got to live. It will be interesting to see if she finally decides to live the life she wants in the next book. We still have not read what happened to Victor's mother in this tale. Did she die protecting her child or was it natural causes? This story kept my attention as it was full of drama. I just love how Theodora weaves a tale. This one did not disappoint.

Meh

It was good it wasn't as dark as i was hoping it would be but im glad it picked up towards the end. Hopefully the next book would be the dark romance that I hope to get cause you can't do much with teens but now that their both adults it can be more intense.

Super well-written and funny fast read. Disability and fatness and race in Japan. ASL and CSL and criminal empires and bisexuality and art. Parents and their complications.

Warning for perfect sex, kidnapping and disfigurement of kids, dead mom, tiger mom.

Completely reads like a terrible shojo manga but I could read it. And it was so stupid that I could read it easily. Not good, will start in on the next part.

I’m not complaining about the happy ending. It’s a romance book, that’s what they are for. I just wish that the main characters (esp Victor) we’re deserving of it.

Don’t know how to buy that dawn believed his change of character when whenever we are in victors head he hasn’t changed. Not even a bit.

Theodora Taylor is amazing! Another great series from an author who just gets better and better. I love how she has characters who face real challenges that they have to deal with. Not all sugar and rainbows. It makes for a much richer and meaningful love story. Can’t wait to read Han and Phantom’s stories!

Cliffhanger warning

This book was ok. Not what I was expecting, based on the blurb.
1. This book features high school students
2. This book is part of a trilogy, and ends in a cliffhanger

I wouldn't have read this book of I had known going in. I will say that it is different as most of the book is set in Japan. So that we pretty neat. Otherwise, just an ok book. Mighty read the next one.
