I am a HUGE Richelle Mead fan and her Dark Swan series is right up there as one of my favorites EVER! When I heard they were becoming comics I was super excited and when the pub contacted me to review them I freaked LOL.

First of all I have to say that this trend of turning Urban Fantasy series into comics or Graphic novels is awesome! Those tend to be very visual stories and make for amazing graphs.

Storm Born is definitely an great example of that and the images are amazingly done and the the story is very well constructed to both include enough backstory and action to make you not want to put it down.

I was super psyched about seeing Genie and Kyo’s first encounter and was NOT disappointed! Urban Fantasy comics with a side of sexy? YES please!

I thoroughly believe that both Dark Swan fans and newcomers will LOVE these and I totally recommend them! I cannot wait for the next volumes!

The second volume of Storm Born picks the story up right where it was left in vol.1

Eugenie and Kiyo are attacked by an Elemental and she discovers that Kiyo may have more secrets than she could ever hope for. Also, more creatures from the Otherworld seem to know who she is. After everything, she decides to actually take the job offered to her and go after the girl that has been kidnapped and taken to the Otherworld.

Even if this issue might have had a little bit more action I think the first one was better, but I am sure things are about to get very interesting. I can't wait for her to actually cross to the Otherworld. Off to read the next one! :)

4 1/2 stars.

After a lovely time spent in the arms of her new lover Kiyo, Eugenie awakens to discover an icy beast has invaded their space. Before she has time to react, Kiyo is up and kicking its butt like a pro while still deliciously naked, I might add. She finishes the elemental off but not before it says her real name and makes disturbing comments about spreading her soft legs. I’m still not sure what is up with that but theses sexual innuendos from beasties are getting mighty uncomfortable and I’m starting to fear for Eugenie.

This volume again hooked me from page one and features the same beautifully expressive artwork and bright colors that really grab the eye. It’s sexy, suspenseful and sarcastically humorous. It doesn’t answer any of my nagging questions. Who is this Kiyo? He is definitely much more than an extraordinary looking veterinarian. Why are creatures suddenly calling Eugenie by her real name and threatening to get all sexy with her? What is lurking in the Otherworld? Why is a creepy fox in suburbia? Why aren’t her sex induced scratches from Kiyo healing? I don’t know any of the answers but I’m anxious to see where all of this leads.

This is a fabulous graphic novel so far and I’m looking forward to devouring the entire thing.

This book easily garners a spot on my alltime favorites shelf. I love Eugenie to death. I love, LOVE the plotline of this book. The characters are awesome, and quite a large portion of it had me blushing.

Richelle Mead is a genius, and shes done it again.

Now, if October will just hurry up so that her next book will come out!
