I grew up with this book. It was read to me as a child and I still enjoy a glance at it every now and then. The rhythms, rhymes, and accompanynig pictures captivated me as a child and continue to now.

Review by 5yo: Backwards Bill and some other poems were funny. I liked a lot. Backwards Bill is also silly because well, I don't want to tell you about it.

I just reread this lovely collection of Shel Silverstein poems. Even after all these years, his inventiveness and skill astound me. His poems vary from silly and hilarious to poignant and introspective. They are ideal for a quick and satisfying read. The drawings are still delightful and the familiarity of the verses bring me back to my childhood.

What can I say about a Shel Silverstein poetry collection? It's fun, takes me back to the good ol days, gives me a new appreciation for things I may overlook, take for granted, or just completely forget about in life. Curious if there are any other poetry books aimed at or ok for children? Favorite poems from this collection include: Ations and Deaf Dean. Really combines the artwork with the poem to tell it in.a way that wouldn't work without either but needs both.
