This is my second Diane Chamberlain book after loving Breaking the Silence. Before the Storm wasn't as good, and I felt that I knew what the outcome of the sotry would be before the end. However, Chamberlain's rich characters shone through - I loved Andy and his mum, and I loved the protrayal of Marcus.
I will definitely be carrying on reading Chamberlain's other works despite this one being 3.5 stars.

I almost always like this author’s books and this was perfect for a day on the Tahoe beach. Chamberlain’s stories always revolve around some kind of intense family relationship issues and this was about a mother who suspects her autistic son may have set a church fire so that he could save lives and be a hero. This kept me reading and the ending was a surprise. I didn’t like it quite as well as her other books (KEEPER OF THE LIGHT and THE BAY AT MIDNIGHT are two favorites) but try this for a quick read.

I thought this book was very gripping and enjoyed the easy-to-read manner of diane chamberlain's writing. Unfortunately, I had already guessed one part of the twist, but there were enough turns to keep me hooked.

3 1/2 stars I accidentally read the second book in this duo series. I had been confused because some of the stories didn’t seem to have enough details. Having read this one now I’m disappointed that there weren’t more details about how courts dealt with Andy and Maggie. I liked the second book better, but honestly think it would have been better as a single book instead of two.

I really enjoyed this book! I typically enjoy books by Diane Chamberlain in general. Well written, I enjoyed the characters and the plot. I did think the ending was a bit rushed, I wanted to hear more about Sara. Maybe the second book will have more about that! Definitely would recommend though!

I enjoyed the story, but the character's circumstances (fetal alcohol syndrome, abandonment, fires, broken family ties, etc.) made it hard to read.

I love the way Diane Chamberlain tells stories - they are always so captivating! Before the Storm was no different! She is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine!

This was my first Diane Chamberlain book but won't be my last. Turning the pages was easy as the story line and varying perspectives each chapter kept the read fresh. I found myself rooting for various characters through all their flaws and errors. A great book!

I'm glad I gave Diane Chamberlain another chance. Now that I'm familar with her writing style, I enjoyed her storytelling much better. Predictable and comforting, this was a quick and easy read.

Ugh
Predictable. I skimmed the last few chapters. Other than the one big twist, the whole thing was pretty simple. Not my favorite
