Surprisingly enough I haven't read many books on roller derby while gearing up to create my own roller derby queer romance story when I was younger, so I thought it's time to just pick one from the library and this was really cute! I was a little nervous when I saw it was the third series of the book, but it does a great job at setting up the characters + their previous relationships! Absolutely loooved that the mc was trans and it wasn't a big deal or anything.  I did wish there was more room for plot since this was such a short book and the sex scenes were fine, but the way the story wrapped up had my go huh? where's the rest? Still enjoyed it and it does a good job at explaining roller derby for folks who don't know!

Tina Durham, a trans woman searching for love in the wake of the end of her marriage ("his" wife didn't want to be married to a woman) meets a female plumber who invites her not on a date, but to try out for the local roller derby team. Tina, who once worked as a professional wave rider, is intrigued, not only by the offer, but by its offer-ee, Joe Delario. And soon the attraction between Tina and Joe is leading them into more than just friendship, a relationship that may threaten the dynamics of the team. Both Joe and Tina have their moments of character growth, growth that happens at least in part due to their interactions with one another. The third book in a series, earlier books which featured gay male romances, this is a quick, fun read, especially if you're curious about the workings of a roller derby team.

It is so so hard to find trans lesbian romances, but I am so happy that I picked this one up. I'm not usually a fan of sports themes, but the roller derby aspect was actually really fun. I loved both Tina and Joe, along with all the derby girls and Tina's friends. All the characters were so sweet, and the story was as much about friendship and community as it was about the actual romance, which I loved.

I LOVED this. A fast, fun and really sweet read. I got romance, I got friendship, I got character growth, and a really engaging story. I don't know jack about roller derby, but the plot was definitely interesting enough to keep me going (hell yeah, women in sports). And in any case, it was the characters and interpersonal relationships that I was here for. I came to love Tina in such a short amount of time!!! Same with Joe. They are just two great ladies, and reading about them falling in love and working out their issues and getting horizontal was just lovely.

(I do wish it was a liiiiiiitle bit longer but, you know. Novellas! What'll you do.)

I grabbed this book at the library because they had a display of books with the word 'girl' in the title and it was about roller derby. I didn't finish this. Not because anything was particularly wrong, but I didn't realize it's a romance and I don't like to read about orgasms while I'm at work. It's weird.

This was a fabulous read. Tina is a former professional Wakeboarder who has retired from the sport to transition into a woman. She meets Joe, a female plumber who also coaches a women's Roller Derby league. Joe sees something in Tina and convinces her to try out for the league.

What follows is a story that explores the friendships of Tina and the rest of the Derby girls, as well as the friendships of those that supported her through her transition. We also get a glimpse into her relationship with Joe; a relationship that forces Tina to stand up for how she wants to be treated and seen.

My only complaint is with Joe. I wish we could understand her more. I wanted to understand (from her perspective) her fears in revealing her relationship with Tina. And I would have liked to see her deal with the issues Stella and her had instead of it being alluded to.

Besides that, great story!
