This was a disturbing read.  A harrowing account of childhood abuse and trauma. Told from his point of view as a child , when he didn't fully understand everything going on. As someone studying psychology I would be interested to learn more about what cause the switch in the Mother, how did she become so vicious and why was her abuse centered to only one child? This is obviously an extreme case of child abuse but regardless it is important for people to understand and know the signs so we can hopefully save more children and have less kids fall through the cracks.

I heard a podcast with Dave Pelzer and had never heard his story. This book was difficult to read in some areas just due to the nature of the topic. It made me count my blessings of the childhood I had, and to start paying closer attention to those around me.

A very detailed, eye opening look at severe child abuse through the eyes of a survivor. Everyone should read this once in their life. Child abuse is way more common than you would believe and being able to spot the signs could literally be the difference between life and death for a child.
