Plot:
The plot reminded me of something that might have been featured on Degrassi Junior High. Then again, this book was apparently based on a TV show so that explains it. I liked the overall plot. It was different.
Setting:
Not sure where the setting is exactly but seemed like your everyday town.
Characters:
I felt bad for Bertram (what a name) and he was an easy enough character to like for the most part. The only thing I didn't like was how he would make fun of his classmate's intelligence. I would have liked to see a little more character development after the prank but felt it was going in the right direction.
While there were other characters, I feel like I didn't get a chance to get to know them well enough. I did like Bertram's best friend as well as Louise.
Relationships:
I'm always a sucker for an underdog romance, but I felt a little mixed about the relationship when he assumed she was responsible for the prank pulled on him and decided to get revenge on her as well.
Writing/Voice:
The book felt dated but I occasionally enjoy that so I liked it.
Ending:
Left open-ended (maybe there are more books?) but I liked it.
Overall, I liked it. Would have loved to see more depth to the characters but was enjoyable in an after school special kind of way.
