Well-executed commentary on how social media desensitizes us to the world's worst aspects.

Nevertheless, something was missing. Whether it had to do with the way the book was marketed or my uncertainty around the execution of a certain revelation about our lead, I'm not sure. Still, it didn't leave as much of an impact on me as I first anticipated.

Ugh! I wanted this book to be so jarring and messed up and it fell so flat.  The premise is super strong and I wish it was more the moderators having to watch the videos and do something about it and less about the characters outside of work.  Like many people, I’m super confused by the ending and how we go there.  I mean, Kayleigh isn’t a good person but the breaking and entering thing seems random and out of character.  I’m rating this low bc I’m disappointed that it’s not what I thought it would be

I think this is probably a decent book that explores topics that we should probably talk about, but I very much regret reading it.

Thanks to Harper Books for the free copy of this book.

 - Is there anything more terrifying than reading a horror novel that is fully based in reality? WE HAD TO REMOVE THIS POST is just that: a barely fictionalized story of a group of online content moderators slowly losing their grip.
- The imagery in this book is unsurprisingly horrific, along with all kinds of slurs and nastiness. Pushing through that, though, is part of what makes this novella so great and awful: you're doing the same thing as the characters.
