If you want a book about flawed narrators and the mess that is the internet, social media and inappropriate online content, this is for you.

If you want loveable characters, plots that come to a clear resolution or something that feels like more than an angry diatribe/character study, give this a miss

This had potential but was strangely boring. I liked that it was short, but hated the ending and found the unreliability of the narration irritating. Overall a miss for me but I did think the author wrote well.

An intriguing character study focused on the ways we train ourselves to look away from the unbearable. The prose is an easy read, and the narrator's voice is conversational and casual, but I found the story slow despite the novella length, which was also too short to really provide closure. I went into the book expecting a supernatural or surprise element of some sort, and was disappointed when there wasn't really one; the twist was not surprising to me. All in all, 2.5 stars

Very dark take one the reality of content moderation- ambiguous ending that makes you wonder the risks and costs of the line of work. Felt like a black mirror episode.

The idea was deeply interesting, the sources could have built a strong narrative, however the result was underwhelming (not to say disappointing).
The author should have chosen between cynicism and tension as well as respected the narrative she first chose...
The ending was ultimately rushed and confusing, not in an interesting way.
