I think the story line was good but the something just seemed to missing. It could be that the characters were too immature. It has a lot of potential to be better but I expected a lot more. I loved Grandma Nadine thought! Hopefully the next two books will live up to my expectations.

Great book

The past is called the past for a reason. If you are constantly looking behind you , your eyes aren’t on the road ahead. You don’t drive a car that way, so why would you live your life that way? Isn’t life more important than driving that beat-up Subaru

Lowered rating from 3 to 2 stars because I literally didn't retain anything about this book. (Except for how sneaky the grandma was, lmao.)

Just alright. I didn't like the way Kacey was referred to at times. For example, there were quite a few instances of "(insert saucy reference here)... that ladies weren't supposed to mention". Why???? Are women too innocent or not allowed to be vulgar enough to mention these things?? Seriously, fuck off.

I read this book a couple years ago and I remember loving it and my library just got it in audio so I thought YAY. I still loved it.

I love how the book started with them being children and we got to hear Travis' thoughts about how he tortured her to be her hero. Obviously it's not the right mind set but for a child, I think it's adorable. That's what people say right? "He picks on you because he likes you." It's why women now deal with abusive boyfriends but thats getting off topic and totally doesn't apply here. I love Casey and Travis' relationship. I love that they still joked around and played. I love those kinds of relationships. I love that it wasn't overly serious and emotional. Was there emotions? DUH. And Travis did have his sentimental moments, like when he took her to her parents restaurant and how he kept the folder from her parents because he wanted to be the one to give it to her. But I like that Travis takes a bad situation (his brothers fake engagement to the girl he loves) and he turned it into a fun experience. He helps her out a lot in the short weekend and it just proves that he is 100% meant for her.

It was a cute book. Jake was an ass. I have no idea how Rachel plans on making him better in the next book. Once I make a decision about a character, it's usually pretty hard to sway me another way. That's why I never got around to reading The Wager but now that's it's in audio I plan on listening to it at work.

I didn’t mind reading this, but it wasn’t spectacular and I just didn’t care about the next installment. Grandma and Jake were annoying, and I think the narration just didn’t do it for me in the audiobook (she had great intonation, but not to be mean, sounded too old for the role). I liked that she was willing to play along for tuition, but then her decisions regarding school at the end of the book had me rolling my eyes. Oh well, pleasant enough but not a fav.

I think this book is the definition of a 3 star rating. It kept me somewhat entertained, but was just like every other NA book out there. Girl has a trauma in her life, boy swoops in to save her.

I will say one thing. Travis isn't like every other bad boy in NA books. He was actually a sweetheart. He didn't treat her like shit and then she instantly fell in love with him like most books. He was genuinely a nice guy, which you don't see often. Some of his gestures brought tears to my eyes.

Kacey was such a meh character, and I think some of her responses were super unrealistic. *Mild spoiler ahead* She sleeps with one brother, who takes her virginity and walks away. I can absolutely see why she'd be heartbroken. Then she sleeps with the other brother years later, and he basically does the same thing, on a smaller scale, and she instantly takes him back. She spends the entire book talking about how Jake basically broke her and how much it hurt her, and then it happens with Travis, and it's no big deal?

The pacing of the book was somewhat odd. I spent the first 2/3 of the book bored because it was so slow, and in the last 50 pages or so, they fall in love, they fight, they end up arrested, then he proposes. I honestly feel like if she had paced the story out a bit better, it would have made for a much better read.

The two redeeming qualities this book had that kept it at a 3 star for me was the bickering and Grandma Nadine. The bickering was so relatable and just downright funny at times. And Grandma Nadine. She is on my list of top favorite characters in books. She's smart, funny, and just downright twisted at times. It kept the book somewhat entertaining just by reading about her.

I don't really have any intention of reading the rest of the books in this trilogy (not sure if it's a series). I do have them atm, and may consider reading them just to get more grandma time, but probably when I'm bored and want a light read.

Abso-freakin-loutly love it! I never liked Jake from the beginning but Travis, total swoon. He gives good woo. The part where I laughed so hard at was the first tree house scene and the spider. Freaking loved it, and the whole kitchen fight totally loled. The fact that these people were around my age I connected with them. I felt was Kacey was going through. And Grandma Nadine. The whole way through I read it with Betty WHite's voice and character. Made me laugh even more.
