This took me a while to get through, even with the audiobook at 1.25x! It's definitely a slow burn book, so don't go in expecting a thriller or "jump scares". But it is genuinely creepy at parts and I love how the two stories end up tying together. I want to watch the movie now to see how it compares!

The book was an enjoyable read after the first 100 pages. It took a while to get the plot into motion and then the pacing takes off after the first few chapters. It’s beautifully written even though the translation is clunky. My biggest gripe is the untapped potential for strong character development.
