kthrine's review against another edition
3.0
I usually enjoy Helena Huntings books but there were a couple of things that just completely threw me off. 1. There is a lot of slut shaming or name calling other women which I don’t love. 2. The mention of an “escort” then called them a prostitute and dirty. Also mentioning the Red Light District and claiming the sex workers there are somehow dirty or have STIs when that is a heavily regulated industry for the SAFETY of the sex workers. 3. Constantly calling her stepmother her “whoremother” ughhhhh. 4. Ruby is suddenly an idiot that she cannot remember that Bancroft left envelopes of cash to take care of his pets so she assumes it’s for sex.
This is definitely not one of Helena Hunting’s best. If you can get past calling women slut and whore and the casual shaming of sex workers it’s an easy read.
