Hmmm I was looking forward to this one, thinking it could be really fun but it just didn't quite hit the mark for me. It wasn't badly written or anything but it just wasn't drawing me in. I couldn't find anything that made me excited for it. There was a few parts that I thought might turn it but they ended up not. I didn't hate it by a long shot, but I didn't love it either. Although I know this will be a huge hit with many.

I always enjoy retellings of fairytales, this one was no exception.  It's always a wonder of what happened after and this book explains what happened to Greta and Hans after defeating the witch.

This was fine. I enjoyed it for the most part, but felt kind of disinterested in the last third of the book. Greta really got on my nerves at times, but I did love her character development.

I wish this had been a bit darker. But this was a solid book.

I received an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I genuinely enjoyed this story. I feel like Hansel & Gretel is an often overlooked story for retelling. But it’s always been one of my favorites. This story follow Greta (primarily and Hansel as a secondary character) after burning the witch. This story is lush, atmospheric and beautiful. I genuinely enjoyed this feminist spin on what happens after the end. Powerful witches. Curses. Dirty men who get what they deserve. Baked goods. It deals with guilt, misconceptions, and ever afters so deftly. This is truly a masterpiece in setting and atmosphere.
