The Reunion by Kiersten Modglin

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

“Well-intended people listen to the boundaries set by others.”

Did I like The Reunion? Yes. Do I think it could be 50 pages shorter? Also, yes. We spend so much time in Cait du Bois’ head and she can’t seem to make a decision about anything. There are moments where I feel like we were going in a circle and the plot wasn’t moving forward. The Reunion is a highly psychological whodunnit. I will say it’s not often that I read a novel where the victim is SO unlikeable. I don’t think she deserved to die, but goodness she needed to chill a bit.

I don’t know if I recommend The Reunion, but if you want to read it, go ahead!

REVIEW:
I am a sucker for thrillers but lately I have been loving thrillers involving reunions that involve a crime from the past. So when I found out Kiersten was writing a book about a “reunion” that is told in dual timelines, I was very pleased.

There is a reason why Kiersten has become so popular on Amazon, and it’s because she can turn out so many books and make all of them different/twisty. This book is TWISTY, just when you think you have it figured out, you don’t. KMod is the queen of twist and always provides an amazing, well crafted thriller. I loved every second of it. I can’t wait to see what she releases in 2022!!!

The Reunion by Kiersten Modglin

First off, I am SO grateful to Author Kiersten Modglin for entrusting not only me, but fellow bookstagrammers with an ARC of this book. It was a true honor and I hope we have the pleasure again in the future.

Cait Du Bois grew up in the small town of Spider Lily which now holds one of the most haunted memories of her past, Hotel Lilith.

Now a well known author, Cait always swore she would NEVER return to Hotel Lilith….the place where is all happened. It would bring back too many memories and dig up some of her deepest darkest secrets.

When her ten year high school reunion comes up, Cait who was once the unpopular one in high school, can’t resist coming back home to show everyone how far she’s made it; Especially to the “populars” who made her high school experience unfathomable.

Upon her return to Hotel Lilith, Cait encounters strange occurrences. Are they really not all that harmless? Is she reading too far into things?

Cait believes so…until she starts getting intimidating text messages from an unknown number. Someone is trying to expose the truth and they will go as far as murder to make it happen.

I absolutely loved that this book was a duel timeline. It sucked me in immediately. You get Cait’s backstory of when she was in high school and Cait as an established married author and mom.

There is a reason Kiersten Modglin is one of Amazons top authors. She can bust out books like no tomorrow and rack up amazing reviews. Each one of her books I’ve read has gripped me from the very first sentences, and when I think I have it all figured out…I am wrong every time. One of these days maybe I’ll have a mind as dark and twisty (yep, throwing in some Grays quotations) and can finally figure one of her books out. I love the challenge & guessing game that her books bring. I don’t give out 5 stars easily, but this book earned it from me!

I cannot wait to see what she cooks up next!
