I have set with this book for a couple of hours processing. 16 year old girls are sent away during their grace year. They are alone and become feral. They become the cast of The Lord of the Flies. Tierney was not raised as the other girls were. She was taught things like a son & though these things could keep her alive in the banishment, they could get her killed in the encampment with the other girls. Tierney has to fight to survive her grace year as well as learn all of the secrets of those that came before her.
YA, dystopia, and fantasy. I liked Tierney and her story. I didn't want to stop reading. Dark and gripping.
