this book physically broke me, and i was so slumped after reading it. i never expected the ending to take such a turn with how pip slowly crumbles into a depressed little pill that does not deserve to go through what she did. she was extremely human which is why she has to be one of my favorite main characters ever.

i love how ravi was simply a support system throughout the book and it didn't necessarily focus on their relationship, rather just as he was supporting pip, he was also supporting us readers by bringing a lighthearted presence in this dark book.

i never thought a book would let me sympathize with multiple side characters so much and i actually cried during that ending because it wasn't fulfilling at all and i felt empty since it didn't necessarily end on a 'good' note, because death is death and all it does is take.

overall, the book has devastated me and i don't think any other ya murder mystery could compare because holly jackson poured her heart into this project. she is a sure buy author for me now!
