Fun read! I think I like YA for thriller/mysteries because it helps to keep things a little more lighthearted. I loved the formatting of this book, and honestly, would have liked it more if it was all in first person because Pip in her capstone entries is such a compelling character and sometimes when it was third person I felt like she was a bit muddled. It helped that Pip herself seemed aware that she didn’t really know who she was either, so I didn’t stress too much. The mystery was compelling, and I let myself be guiding by Pip, trying to not see too much into it. I wasn’t surprised by the ending but boy was it just kinda heartbreaking! Ravi was a great addition, and I’m a little weirded out by their romance bc of the ages but I can look past it :) I’m interested in the next book, and hoping that pip’s voice only gets stronger!

Be wary of the content warnings: a lot of triggers aren’t really described in detail but they are mentioned a lot.

The plot was a bit cliché but entertaining enough.  It is unfortunate that the US edition had so much edited out, there are just moments that feel skipped over or some parts that seem missing general.  But in the end it was a good story.

I loved the formatting of this book, all the extra details like the schedules, text messages, were all formatted nicely.  It was an entertaining to read, it had twists and turns, an unlikely friendship, a killer hiding in plain sight, and a school project that turned into solving a murder.

This book was a random read to get into the fall feels, and it did not disappoint.
The main characters were the perfect mix of serious and unserious in all the best ways, and even the secondary characters that make up the friends and family of Pippa were perfect. Ravi and Pippa are a perfect pairing, and I can't wait to see what mystery they'll solve next.
The story itself was a great crime/thriller while still holding onto that YA feeling. I spent the whole time trying to distinguish who to trust and who could have possibly done the crime we didn't even know was actually committed. I'm happy with the ending and found it to be realistic and not super outlandish and convoluted like a lot of murder/crime-centric media usually is.
And in the midst of reading, I found out it's getting made into a series, so I'll be on the lookout for that. Off to the next Pippa and Ravi adventure.

Crying score: ugh yes
a dog dies

P.S. read the TWs there are a lot, so it is important to be informed.
