"The cards were stacked, though neither of them knew it. Serena MacGregor's father left nothing to chance when he sent Justin Blade -- part Comanche and all gambler -- on a Caribbean cruise. His daughter was evading her responsibility to produce grandchildren by working as a blackjack dealer on the CELEBRATION. Odds were they'd meet.

Serena's father had his hopes riding on what would happen when they did. Win, lose or draw, they were meant for each other, proving indisputably in this case that lucky in cards did not mean unlucky in love." (From Amazon)

I did not like this book (series) as much because it is more romance than story and the family saga didn't really interest me.

Reread after years. Good, fun, sexy contemporary romance. Short, sweet, and sexy!

Rereading the MacGregor series has been fun. What is crazy is how little I remember of these books - almost like I'm reading a brand-new book every time. Before, I rated these books as compilations (Serena and Caine, Alan and Grant, etc.). But that didn't really tell me which books I really liked - just which compilation. So this time around, I can definitely say that Serena and Justin's story is a 3.5 star read.

*PSA - Listen to my friends' Nora Roberts podcast, Romancing the Shelf - they are taking a deep dive into the MacGregor series now!

Unread shelf project 2019: book 13.

I enjoyed this, but not as much as I thought I would. Justin bothered me, how he seemed to push Serena into having sexytimes and although initially she would resist, she eventually caved and enjoyed herself. That just rubbed me the wrong way, but this was also written in 1992 (*gasp* the dark ages!

Having worked as a dealer in a cruise casino, Serena MacGregor is ready to take the next step in her life. She doesn't count on being thrown off course by a handsome passenger, Justin Blade. She's not sure she's interested but he is... 80's romance forceful about it.
When one of Justin's investors suggests this cruise, he doesn't think anything of it. But when he figures out that the woman he's lusting after is the man's daughter, he's more bemused than anything else.
It is dated and I'm not sure that today's readers will enjoy it as much as those of us that have the nostalgia factor added in.

I could tell by the writing that this was one of Nora Roberts' earlier works. It had a slow start but was an enjoyable read
