Loved it. A must-purchase for middle grade graphic novel collections. The riff on Sherlock Holmes was unobtrusive, but a delight for fans.

I really, really loved this graphic novel!! There is something about kid detectives that just gets me every time. I also really loved the quirky pairing of these two new unlikely friends, Jamila with her tomboy sportiness and Shirley with her old fashionedness. When Shirley's kid detective business is revealed, the two go on a quest to locate a missing gecko and solve a case of disappearing items. In doing so, they bring together another group of unlikely friends and save everyone's summers. It's a truly wholesome and heartwarming read and I am very excited there is a sequel!

In love with this 10-year-old girl version of Sherlock Holmes that also like interrogates the original biases and issues with pieces of media like Sherlock Holmes… WILL be reading the next book from this series!!

I really enjoyed this middle grade graphic novel. It definitely has some allusions to Sherlock Holmes in terms of the Sherlock/John roles in solving mysteries. Definitely recommend for readers who want mystery or lighthearted adventure and like Raina Telgemeier or stories like Roller Girl.
