I have to confess that this was almost a DNF for me because the H was a real a-hole dom at times, though this isn't a BDSM book. And the h seemed like a doormat. All those 5* reviews? I'm willing to bet they're ARC reviews.

I'm also willing to bet that neither author has worked in the corporate world, at least not in the executive suites. (Yes, I have.) Things don't work quite the way the authors seem to think they do.

Mr. CEO is actually a short book, as it's only one-third of the content. Two other books are included.

This book was surprisingly not bad. It was for its part wonderfully steamy where it counted but what surprised me most was the plot itself. It had some real meat to its bones, which was a good kind of surprise. It definitely gave the book more depth in the end. Overall I enjoyed it for what it was: a quick steamy romp with a little bit of drama and angsty feels sprinkled in.

Winters and Landish, an incredible writing team have written a story of love that really jerked my heart. When I first started listening to this, I was certain that Logan, billionaire extraordinaire was going to be the typical get what he wants kind of guy. He sees Charlotte Rose, wants her and does whatever it takes to have her...but with an twist, this story puts that billionaire in a whole different light. This couple may be reacting to instalove/lust, but their feelings grow to be real and the situations faced are tough and will bring emotions to the surface, and tears to your eyes. I did want to give Charlotte a little more backbone when dealing with her ex, but people handle things differently. Great writing with strong characters, this is a wonderful listen.

The choice of narrators for this book is stellar. I love the combination of Alastair Haynesbridge and Bunny Warren. They compliment each other well. Haynesbridge has that voice of authority and passion, perfect for Logan. Warren portrays Charlotte Rose with the confidence and strength she has, for most of the story, but breaks down for the weakness and vulnerability with ease. It is a great performance by both.

Are you looking for a simple, but fun romance? Mr.Ceo by Lauren Landish and Willow Winters might be a good option for you. It’s a classic, a billionaire falls in love at first sight with a woman at a conference, and buys her office in order to be close to her. Okay so it might not be super classic, but it is steamy and interesting.

Overall I love Charlotte as a character. She is a head strong professional trying to make her way. She recently has been burned by her ex and best friend so she is trying to recover. In terms of recovering she is falling in love with the emotionally unavailable Logan. Logan is also interesting with his own secrets and past that comes out in the story.

I will say there is a twist near the end of the book that just seemed out of place to me, and really made me choose the 3 star rating. I felt like the ending was rushed more so then what I have seen in other Willow Winters books, and even though it wasn’t out of no where it was very abrupt, and in my opinion should have been built up more.

Now to note, I have read a couple of Willow Winters books at this point. I do feel like most of them are very similar in vibes and structure. So for me, the more I read her books, the more they feel similar to me. If that is your jam then maybe this author will be good for you long term. For me, I love new adventures and so I am hesitant to keep reading this author.

Shew!
I’ve been reading darker books for a while, so this was a breath of fresh air. Classic boss/employee trope with a dash of insta-love and a little drama. Loved it.
