I don't know why I didn't write a review about this book. Rosemary's Baby played with my heart rate like a violin. I spent every page wishing that Rosemary would be okay, that she could get out of her situation, could escape the hell looming over her like an inescapable cloud of doom. Definitely 5/5.

Finally got to read this classic, can't actually remember if I watched the movie or not back in the day, but well, now I should have no excuse.
Clasic horror which takes me back to those years of reading tons of Stephen King, and Koontz.

There was something so refreshingly direct about this book. You think it's about
Spoilera group of people trying to trick Rosemary into having the devil's baby, and it turns out to be.... about a group of people trying to trick Rosemary into having the devil's baby!
Perhaps this is the way all books used to be written, but then all the books that could be written like that were written, so people had to start getting more clever, trying to make you believe one thing was happening while also subtly dropping clues about the real, secret thing that was actually happening and - nope. This book only kept secrets from its protagonist. I even understand why Rosemary didn't understand until then end. Sometimes protagonists are unnecessarily dumb in order to further along a plot like this, but it all felt very obvious to me why Rosemary, who wanted the baby so badly, and whose circle of friends was so close-knit to miss all the signals. Of course, she acted in ways that frustrated me several times, but I think that's more a function of the cultural difference of 70 years. Maybe a woman of the 60s really wouldn't have stayed mad at her own husband for (essentially) raping her if he did it because for the sake of making sure they conceived. Barf.

But overall, this was just a fun and totally bizarre ride. I wonder if the sequel is worth reading?

Wow...I can't believe I've gone this long without reading this book! I don't know if I've ever hated such vile characters while at the same time completely intrigued by them. The gaslighting that goes on in this book is next-level; it's enough to make your skin crawl and make you angry. I knew the basic story before reading, but the intricate details were exciting and excellent. You can't help but feel sympathy for Rosemary while also wishing she would just GO! I devoured this listen in just a couple of sittings.

The book is fine. Very outdated in its treatment/description of POC and not particularly suspenseful or spooky. A couple moments I enjoyed and a quick read. Overall one of the rare times I’d say watch the film instead
