I quite enjoyed this book. It's short and simple enough- a young boy obsesses over a sandwich seller and isn't quite sure how to react when others don't see her the same way as he does.
I liked the other characters introduced into the story and how they interacted with the boy. The relationship between him and his grandma was particularly sweet. It would have been nice if this had been expanded on a bit more.
It did take some time to get into the writing, but once I got used to it, it was a sweet read.
Thanks to NetGalley for the read!

the portrayal of women in this book had me creeped out , especially when i found out that a WOMAN wrote this. The main character was unhealthily obsessed with a grown woman. He was like 10???? That was the plot. That's all the happened in the entirety of this novella.

This projected the idea that women live to please men - perhaps it was unintentional. But , the author did nothing to refute those ideas, nothing to suggest that they aren't okay, just that it's normal...

Short, sweet and quirky. Although I am struggling to remember most of what happened now, and it’s only been a few days since I finished…

The beginning took me a little bit to work through, something that I find happens a lot with translated works, but the book as a whole is such a bittersweet portrait of that really awkward pre-pubescent time when you start to realize there's a lot you don't understand yet and I loved it. Al Pacino!
