I liked the idea of this better than the book itself. It just got so monotonous - generation after generation with some details different, but still quite repetitive. I ran out of steam and wasn't interested in finishing.

I wanted to like this book. I honestly tried. My interest became lost with each character seeking someone out for breeding purposes. Yes, this is something intrinsically that humans have a tendency to do, but I wasn't expecting that from this book. I think I'm ready for a departure or break from fiction for my next few reads. This one really did a number on me.

I wish I could say I loved this book, I wanted too but it was too much. Too much detail for the girl that loves all the details and sometimes I was bored. Don’t get me wrong I liked it, I liked most of the characters and I liked the anticipation of what was coming next. I just love stories about strong women, and witches but this one didn’t fall into the love category. Oh well, ~Read it anyway!

I didn't need 5 generations to tell a story that could have been told in 3... It became repetitive and dull at times. Still deliciously developed characters and wonderful nods to the small nuances between family lines.
Captivating story, and fun historical twists.

I have to add... It was really irritating to listen to the narrator say "Sam-hane" repeatedly.

A little slow in the beginning, but I loved the stories. It was exactly what I was looking for, and I appreciated that variations of characters between each generation. Fun read.

I truly enjoyed listening to this book. The different women and their own motives and characteristics made for so many small stories within a grand story of strong female protagonists.

I picked this up at a book exchange after reading Circe. I didn’t quite know what to expect, but I wanted magic.

And oh, how it delivered! No men turned to pigs, no gods descended from the heavens. Instead, it was …

It’s as if you, the reader, are the craft being passed down through the five generations, following the daughters of witches as they journey across Europe, hunted.

But the beautiful crescendo that was the last several chapters
