Listened to this via Audible, awful Scottish accents really spoilt it.

I may be biased, but I absolutely eat up everything that V.E. Schwab writes. And I didn't know there were two more books after City of Ghosts until I started this book, so safe to say I was even more excited to read this when I knew I could continue on in a larger series.

V.E. Schwab sets up this greater world and enticing characters with her luscious writing style. Everything about the story (from Cassidy and her ghost friend Jacob to her paranormal investigator parents and the eclectic group of side characters) gave me Coraline vibes. I did expect more of the cat since he's on the front cover, but that's okay, I hope he will keep making appearances in the later books.

I can't wait to continue on with the series, learn more about these wonderful characters, and go on more spooky adventures.
