After a long and grueling week of writing and story analysis, I really needed some light, basic 70s superhero stories. These were perfect for that.

They're not perfect in and of themselves. While the book is overall better than volume 1 due to the consistent creative team, the stories sort of came off as "some of the adventures these people were having" instead of "THE definitive stories of this team." Major events took place in other series, like the Justice League crossovers and some Huntress and Power Girl stories, so these issues would reference them without giving the actual context. Characters would come and go, so the team never felt cohesive. Levitz was a very young writer -- he was 20 at the start of this run! -- and he had some craft things to work out.

Overall though, these are fun, breezy superhero tales, which is exactly what I needed to read right now.
