One of my favorite things about Heartstopper is its ability to artfully address serious issues and showcase healthy ways of dealing with serious issues. This volume deals in mental health issues, namely EDs and OCD, and brings home an idea that most mainstream media and depictions of romance get wrong: love cannot solve all problems or heal all wounds, and we need to seek help from others, not just from a partner. Such an important message for young people in relationships, and it brought me to tears to see this written out so simply and clearly.

I really liked this part of the series, it has a lot more depth and seriousness to it. I like how much love and support Charlie gets from everyone when he’s struggling and I’d love to know how it all continues in volume 5
