A wonderful book that reveres the magic of childhood .A measuring of sorts taking place at midlife ,measuring the distance between here and then. Patti is an amazing writer. I feel richer for having read this small book.

Really enjoyed. As usual i don’t like star rating biographical work. Made me ugly cry, sobbing at the dog part (TW: giving up a loved pet and pet death) beautifully written, love the writing style, creates very visual images. Can’t wait to read more Patti smith in future
Graphic: Animal death
Pet deaths, one mentioned one seen. And having to give up a beloved pet (I don’t know what tag that would come under but I think it could trigger people)
