Honestly I have no way to surely describe this book. Just following the threads and thoughts of someone’s life and the stories that have gathered and made their own. The language is beautiful and you are transfixed even if you can’t describe what you’ve read. But at the same time, who can describe the life they’ve lived?

Works even better if you read it while listening to the soundtrack of Poor Things

I'm really not sure how I felt about this book. The beginning was very strong and language and characters used throughout were beautiful and engaging, but towards the end I felt like I was reading a completely different book. It's almost as if 10 different ideas were mashed into one. Some parts dragged on too long for me, which is a shame because the beginning was so fantastically written.

The Physics of Sorrow by Georgi Gospodinov and narrated by Toby Stephens is a stunning work loosely based on the legend of the Minotaur as its analoous base and it really works

Toby Stephens is a fantastic narrator, emulating the highly emotive narrative with a captivating cadence

The author is navigating a labyrinth of life experiences which are grounded in the past, the rebirth of Bulgaria and the trepidation about a new, unknown future. Utterly engrossing and highly relatable, very much recommended

Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, the author Georgi Gospodinov and narrator Toby Stephens for this exceptional ALC. My review is leftvoluntarily and all opinions are my own
