An interesting crime thriller that brought so much horrifying social history into the plotline. This is my first Jo Spain and I thought it a little longwinded at times but otherwise a satisfying read. Perhaps I thought it overlong because I'd worked put the perpetrator about halfway through. However it was well written, the characters were believable and I'd read more in the future if they were on offer (as this was).

So I’d already read book 5 in this series so I knew how a couple of storylines with the characters pan out. It was interesting to go back and learn about them from the beginning though.
I loved book 5 and whilst I did enjoy the reading of this it’s a 3 for me because I don’t religious story lines as personal preference.
I’ll def continue the adventures of Tom and co.

This was a pretty good mystery. I'm excited this is a series. Likeable characters and I liked the history weaved in. Will read more of Spain's books for sure.
