Communism is the worst. Lenin was terribly lucky in his enemies, which was unlucky for the 25 million Russians who died as a result of his coming to lower instead of a Constitutional Romanov monarchy.

Decent, but not gripping. Sheds a different light on the events, but (contrary to some of the reviews of this book) the author does not present that as the only possible truth. He does emphasize that the Russian Revolution was in no way a result of determinism: this revolution was a cluster fuck of epic proportions, not instigated by the people, but by people, vain, vile, and ignorant.
