i wanted mystery. remove m, y, s, t, e, r and y from the word mystery n then place B O R E D. thats what i got instead ❤️

and im upset

(slight spoilers ??)
this is set after dinosaurs time (the 19th century probably idr) and the female mc is already saying shit like 'kind of girl' be quiet u dont have a right to vote yet ure exactly like the other girls. this book could sponsor some white feminisim movement n it would make sense. i dont like the ending and i feel like making the fmc half indian to get some points and saying She's not fully white!!!!

the twist, however, wasn't shocking. i had a hint who would it be after the first chapter. the romance wasn't so very entertaining like its probably just me but ive read this kind of couples many times i got exhausted LOL i want some good drama

two and half stars because i like how some things were described and the reason for the killer to harvest the victim's organs n shit was bittersweet...

Stalking Jack the Ripper was gruesome, ghastly and above all morbidly fascinating.
Kerri Maniscalco’s colour scheme for this book was a mixture of uninviting colours: grey for the misty alleys of London; black for the alleys that hid Jack’s work, mixed with crimson red for all the blood spilt through his murders. And in the middle of this morbid picture are the two young forensic scientists, who give Sherlock Holmes and Watson a run for their money.
The way that Maniscalco wrote this story was so amazing, managing to submerge you in the cold streets of London with just oil lamps to see by. I don’t know how she does it but has managed to take this old mystery and put her own original spin on it―her research into the forensic science of the 1800s was amazing and gave the story a better edge as it was intriguing to see how they would have solved cases like this without modern advancements. Coupled with this was her wonderful use of photographs, which despite being unpleasant were enlightening while giving more added atmosphere and suspense.
My love for Audrey Rose is just astonishing, her stance on not conforming to the Victoria era societal idea of her being a dutiful daughter and in time wife was really refreshing, she wants to be treated as an equal instead of being forced to conform to what others believe she should be and will not cater the way she is to anyone, especially her curiosity, brashness and obsession with things considered morbid. On the other hand, we have the absolutely perfect companion for her, presenting: Thomas Cresswell! The hilarious, charming and eccentric gentleman in London, who again doesn’t comply to social norms, with his adorable ways of vexing Audrey but at the same time not overlooking Audrey’s capabilities and even encourages her to use her wits and skills to work alongside him.

A young woman with a keen intellect and interest in forensic science meets a string of brutal murders in Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco.

To read this, and other book reviews, visit my website: http://makinggoodstories.wordpress.com/.

Audrey Rose Wadsworth, despite her social rank, gender, and father's wishes, prefers to study with her uncle and develop her understanding of and skill in forensic medicine instead of attending social teas for gossip. When London begins to experience the terror of a murderer being called Leather Apron in the press, Audrey Rose find herself, her uncle, and another of his students, Thomas Cresswell, investigating the murders to try to find the murderer before he strikes again. As the clues and astute deductions from the frustrating Thomas seem to get closer and closer to home and family, Audrey Rose is faced with some difficult decisions that will have far-reaching repercussions.

The story was entertaining in the way it incorporated familiar, well-researched historical facts and elements and molded them through lots of description to better fit the narrative, as well as refreshing with a strong, determined, and opinionated female lead. Having read the second book in this series first, I had insight into who Jack the Ripper was, but even with that knowledge, the writing allowed for some misdirection and twists along the way to cast some doubts on what I knew. The dynamic and witty repartee between Audrey Rose and Thomas provided some much needed humor to balance out the morbid depictions of the state and dissection of cadavers.

Overall, I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
