first half was so booooooooring and cluttered with info! and the author cant write a good empowering female character for shit bro
š audrey is just so āi'm not like other girls!" and her character doesnt seem to have a unique trait whatsoever? and its just too unrealistic, i swear.
what a way to start 2024 i guess.
i mean, for a bit, the plot was intriguing and i was engaged with it by the 60% mark, but the ending disappointed me too much.
thomas was a fun character tho, not particularly well-written, but heās charming and quick-witted and probably has adhd a.k.a i like him the best bc hes just so me.
props to this book for giving us absolutely nothing!!!!

The book is well paced and I appreciate that Audrey Rose doesnāt fall too deeply into the ānot like other girlsā trap. Despite her drive toward macabre science, she still enjoys fine dresses and makeup like her peers, though she does find it hard to relate to their lack of drive toward being more than a future wife. I wish weād gotten to see more interaction with her cousin Liza; I think she could use a positive female presence on her side given the heavy male influence around her.
Like many mysteries, the characters donāt get a lot of development. The greatest changes here are shown only in how Audrey Rose and Thomasās dynamic shifts to be more like partners than adversaries. I hope thereās more personal growth in the next book but Iām not holding my breath for it.
The ending does go a bit off the rails but in a fun way. The real killer is
