I received an ARC through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review!
I was so looking forward to this book because it sounded so interesting. An alternative American history? One that kind of reminded me of American Royals? Sign me up! But. I was disappointed. My review can really be boiled down to bullet points, so that's what I'll do.

- The worldbuilding was weak. I never quite got a grasp on it.
- Writing was good, but I never got into the story at hand.
- Characters were alright, but I didn't feel the depth there.
- Doesn't need to be a series. (I already see there's a second book listed and the ending was left so open.)
- Villains felt like cardboard cutouts.
All in all, it was fine. I read the book and didn't rage DNF it. It's just that I wasn't into the story.
