A woman down on her luck in a society that doesnt care and a government that will do anything to ruin you and control you has the opportunity through her three kids to a new life as they are all training under an alien warrior. I loved this book. Steamy but not forceful with great characters that seemed to grow. Would have loved to learn more about his past but still they grew. A great and quick read.

I really liked the slow developing romance here but the ending was rushed making it feel I've only reading half the book.

Finally a good story line about an older single mom!!!!!!

Zoriah got pregnant at a young age and was forced to marry the father. Now that her children's father is dead she lives in fear of the system taking her children away. Zoriah is marked once too often and she faces losing her children

Benyon, has been training Zoriah's son in the warrior ways, does not realize that his warrior in training has not told his mother that he is in training himself. Benyon comes up with a way for her family to stay together.

Yay!! A story about an older heroine and a single mum to boot!

Zoriah got pregnant at a very young age and forced to marry the father. Now that he is dead she is left trying to raise her three children in a world where Earth has been annexed by a fierce, warrior, alien race. They don't seem to be a threat but she is definitely not comfortable with them.

Benyon is a top tier warrior and has been training Zoriahs son in the warrior ways, little does he know that Zoriah is in the dark about this! When Zoriah is blackmarked once too often and she faces losing her children, Benyon comes up with a way for the little family to stay together. But he is stumped as to why he has gone to such trouble for this human.

This was a great book. Friendly but ferocious alien neighbours, smartalex kids and a crooked "big brother" system all mix into a wonderful storyline. The scene where Benyon realises that not every woman wants a "nice" man was brilliant!

Good

I liked the premise of the story and how it unfolded, however, the writing seemed stilted and felt bumpy. You know how it feels when your driving down a road that hasn’t been maintained, you go up and down and back again. This hender the flow of the story. Also, the story rushed a little and the Hero and Heroine had a disconnect too me.
Overall, the story was good.

Really 2 novellas in 1 book

Writing: good
Plot: ok
Characters: well-defined with clear motivations - great
World-building: subtle but present
Romance believable with chemistry? yes

The author doesn’t put any separation in the story, but this very much get like 2 stories that flow into each other. I really liked the first half - when they are on Earth. The world building is subtle, but I found it more present than other reviewers said. Romance was sweet and character development worked.

The second half really kicks off a whole different story, and I wasn’t a huge fan of it. I’m not a huge fan of sequels where our couple is ripped apart and have to deal with some external issue. I’d much rather have no sequel and let them just be happy together.

What could have just been a 3 star read was dragged down to the current rating because the heroine got on my last nerve. She was so freaking ungrateful. If I was what's his name, I would've smacked some sense into her. The sex came at the very end and was pretty forgettable. The guy was an ok hero. He was caring and didn't take advantage of the stupid heroine when he could have. But their romance was lame.

it got an extra star because the glimpse of a future earth society was very plausible

This story was simple but tight and well written. One of the better SF romances I've read recently.
